HYDROGEOLOGY

Understanding, protecting and sustainably managing groundwater

Hydrogeological studies

We carry out studies to characterise the hydrogeological functioning of a site or aquifer:

  • analysis of the geological and hydrogeological context;
  • identification of aquifer formations and impermeable layers;
  • study of groundwater flow directions;
  • determination of relationships between groundwater, springs and surface watercourses;
  • preparation of piezometric maps;
  • assessment of groundwater vulnerability.

Springs and water abstractions

We support municipalities, syndicates, operators and owners in studying, protecting and managing their springs and water abstractions:

  • inventory and characterisation of springs;
  • hydrogeological diagnosis of existing abstractions;
  • study of spring functioning and recharge;
  • monitoring of flow rates and water quality;
  • organisation and interpretation of sampling campaigns;
  • investigation of the origin of deterioration in water quality;
  • support during renovation or redevelopment works on an abstraction;

Delineation of protection zones

We carry out the investigations and studies required to delineate protection zones around abstractions intended for drinking-water supply. These services may include:

  • collection and analysis of geological, hydrogeological and topographic data;
  • study of the abstraction catchment area;
  • identification of flow directions and transfer times;
  • performance or interpretation of tracer tests;
  • assessment of resource vulnerability;
  • inventory of activities and potential sources of pollution;
  • proposal of boundaries for the different protection zones.

Measures catalogues and resource protection

Based on the risks identified in abstraction catchment and protection zones, we prepare measures catalogues adapted to the local context.

Supervision of boreholes and piezometers

Groundwater monitoring

  • measurement of parameters using permanent probes;
  • water sampling for laboratory analysis;
  • interpretation of data and recommendations.
